LATEST MATERIAL CHANGE
What changed?
Research teams at the NASA Glenn Research Center are conducting experiments in state-of-the-art facilities to prepare for next-generation moonwalk simulations. The 9- by 15-Foot Low-Speed Wind Tunnel and the Aero-Acoustic Propulsion Laboratory are key facilities used to study aircraft engine aerodynamics and acoustics. These facilities help reduce noise in communities near airports and enable researchers to develop quieter nozzles. The Small Hot Jet Acoustic Rig and the Nozzle Acoustic Test Rig are also being used to test jet noise reduction concepts and evaluate advanced nozzle designs.
Why it matters
These facilities are crucial for advancing space exploration and reducing noise pollution in communities near airports.
