Cypriot Children Redesign Agioi Omologites Street with Green Spaces

On 20 September 2026, children in Agioi Omologites took part in the “Our Street Needs Green” activity, part of the LAOU LAOU – Open Streets initiative and the European Climate Pact. Coordinated by European Climate Pact Ambassador Irene Andreou, the event invited kids to map the neighbourhood and redesign the street using modelling clay and recyclable materials. They added trees, benches, play areas, pathways and other green features, turning a previously grey street into a more welcoming, accessible space. The activity, held during European Mobility Week, highlighted the children’s demand for more greenery and open space, and sparked wider discussion about how public spaces should evolve. It exemplifies the Climate Pact’s goal of bringing climate action into everyday life through community participation.
