CAR T-Cell Therapy Achieves Remission in Severe Rheumatoid Arthritis Cases

A small study of six patients with severe rheumatoid arthritis that had not responded to conventional treatments found that CAR T‑cell therapy dramatically lowered disease activity. Three of the six patients entered medication‑free remission, suggesting the therapy can reset the immune system by eliminating pathogenic immune cells. The results were obtained in a short‑term observation period, and the investigators note that larger, controlled trials are required to confirm efficacy and safety. If replicated, the approach could offer a new curative option for patients who have exhausted standard disease‑modifying drugs.
