Syrian Farmer Returns to Land with Support from Acted

Abu Khaled, a 58-year-old farmer from Taseel in the western countryside of Dar'a, has returned to his land after over a decade of displacement. With support from Acted, he is farming again and has received a cash grant, business management, and technical training. His wife, Um Khaled, has been his daily support, helping him tend to the land and crops. The couple's story reflects the pressures facing many farmers in Taseel, where drought, damaged infrastructure, and unequal access to water have made farming precarious. Acted's livelihoods programme is providing support to around 500 farmers in the area, repairing damaged canals, and forming a community-led Water Management Committee to distribute water more fairly.
