Larnaca Council Removes Free Parking at Finikoudes, Replaces with Bus Stop

The Larnaca local council has converted the free‑parking zone just before the Finikoudes promenade into a large bus stop, reportedly capable of holding more than 100 buses. The move eliminates the long‑standing free parking that accommodated 1,000 to 2,000 cars daily. Residents now face a sudden shortage of parking spaces, forcing many vehicles onto roads, pavements, and other makeshift spots. Without free parking, locals must pay €10–15 per day or walk one to two miles to reach the promenade. The council’s decision, announced last week, has immediately altered traffic patterns and increased costs for commuters. The change reflects a shift toward public transport infrastructure at the expense of private vehicle convenience.
