Scientists have turned Earth’s magnetic field and atmosphere into a planet‑sized detector to hunt for the lightest candidates of dark matter. The method sharpened constraints on ultralight axions, pushing their possible mass range to lower limits than before.
In addition, the survey identified several anomalous signals that could be dark photons, a hypothetical force carrier that has not yet been observed.
