Google Updates Play Store for In-Car Screens
WHY IT MATTERS
The update improves usability and safety by simplifying app access while driving, ensuring drivers can quickly find and install useful tools without distraction.
What happened
Google announced a major redesign of the Play Store for vehicles equipped with its built‑in Android system. The new layout automatically adjusts to the size and orientation of the car’s display, making it easier to locate and install apps.
Featured apps now appear on the homepage and can be downloaded with a single tap. Navigation has been streamlined: the menu—containing Apps, Games, Search, and More—appears on the left side of the screen, or at the top if the display is vertical.
The update will roll out over the next few weeks, enhancing the in‑car app experience for users.
