Quatuor Diotima Returns to Nicosia for 30th Anniversary Concert
WHY IT MATTERS
The concert showcases Cyprus’s growing cultural profile and highlights Diotima’s unique blend of classical and contemporary repertoire, reinforcing the island’s status as a chamber‑music destination.
What happened
Five years after its Cyprus debut, the acclaimed French string quartet Quatuor Diotima will perform in Nicosia on Friday, October 30, marking its 30th anniversary. The quartet—Yun‑Peng Zhao and Léo Marillier on violins, Franck Chevalier on viola, and Alexis Descharmes on cello—will play at The Shoe Factory, a venue that has hosted many of the ensemble’s recent appearances.
The program blends 19th‑century masterpieces by Beethoven and Brahms with contemporary work, including Georges Aperghis’ String Quartet No. 2, which the quartet premiered in Paris after a Radio France commission.
Diotur Diotima’s international reputation, built through performances at Wigmore Hall, Elbphilharmonie, and the Philharmonie de Paris, underscores the significance of this Cyprus visit.
