What happened
The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is adapting to the evolving situation, with care teams constantly adjusting their operations to provide quality care despite growing pressure on treatment facilities. As of September 1, 2026, Ituri had 25 care facilities, including 15 Ebola treatment centres and 10 transit centres, offering a total capacity of 974 beds.
Over 4,000 additional health professionals were deployed to reinforce care teams. Thanks to support from partners, Ebola treatment facilities have received medication and up-to-date equipment to improve care quality.
Teams are reorganizing spaces, restocking medical supplies and equipment, increasing staffing levels, and adapting protocols to ensure prompt, safe, and dignified care for patients.
