What happened
Amazon is developing smart glasses for its delivery drivers that will take photos almost constantly, recording anything they see—including people and private property. Bloomberg reports the devices could capture several thousand images during a typical shift.
Amazon plans to upload the footage to its AI Wellspring platform, claiming the data will be used solely to improve the delivery process and not for surveillance. When asked whether customers could opt out, Amazon’s Viraj Chatterjee said the company has not considered an opt‑out option.
The move has sparked concerns about privacy and the extent of data collection in everyday commerce.
