Anambra Imposes December 31 Deadline for Certificate of Occupancy Recertification

Anambra State has announced a mandatory deadline of December 31, 2026 for the recertification of Certificates of Occupancy (C of O). Under the new rule, every landowner must update their property information in the state’s ANAMGIS system before the cut‑off. Failure to do so will trigger transaction restrictions, preventing the sale, lease or transfer of the affected property until the record is corrected. The move is part of a broader effort to modernise land administration and curb informal land dealings. Landowners are urged to act promptly to avoid legal and financial complications.
