What happened
Anthropic has announced the Model Hardware Standard (MHS), a set of standardized drivers that let AI agents interface with a wide range of physical devices. The research preview, aimed at scientists, offers a common interface and data format so devices can communicate over a network without bespoke translator software.
Anthropic claims the standard can shrink experimental setup from weeks or months to hours or minutes.
Inspired by neuroscientist Arco Bast’s work at HHMI Janelia, the MHS is currently sold as a research preview to streamline the creation of custom software integrations for complex experiments.
