Somalia Drought Plan Activated to Support Vulnerable Communities

In Somalia, a locally led Anticipatory Action Plan has been activated to support drought-affected communities in the Bay and Bakool regions. Developed by Plan International and READO, in partnership with WAHAFA, the plan combines seasonal forecasts, food security projections, and community observations to trigger timely actions across various sectors. The plan aims to reduce expected drought impacts, particularly for internally displaced people and other vulnerable groups. The mechanism enables the activation of the plan and the release of pre-agreed finance from the WAHAFA Fuel funding. This collaborative effort aims to support drought-affected communities in taking proactive measures before severe drought impacts unfold. The plan was developed with communities, government authorities, and humanitarian partners, ensuring a locally led and inclusive approach. By activating this plan, efforts are being made to mitigate the effects of drought and provide support to those most in need.
