New Ghosts Revealed in Cassiopeia
WHY IT MATTERS
The discovery of new nebulas in Cassiopeia provides insights into the formation and evolution of stars, as well as the interaction between stars and interstellar gas and dust.
What happened
Astronomers have captured three faint nebulas hidden in the Cassiopeia constellation using 100 hours of observation and a special oxygen filter. The nebulas, IC 59 and IC 63, are known as the original Ghosts of Cassiopeia.
Newly discovered Objects 1, 2, and 3 appear as blue phantoms, revealing the presence of ionized oxygen.
The origins of these astronomical apparitions remain a mystery to be solved.
