Cardinals Fans Buy Billboards to Demand Team Sale
WHY IT MATTERS
Fan‑driven billboard protest signals deep dissatisfaction, potentially prompting ownership to address performance and governance issues.
What happened
Cardinals fans of the 1‑4 Arizona team have taken a new step of frustration by purchasing electronic billboard space in the Phoenix area. The billboards carry a simple, no‑nonsense message to owner and team president Michael Bidwill: “SELL THE TEAM. Funded by Cardinals Fans.
#BIDWILLOUT.” The campaign was organized by social‑media personality Nathan Kropp, better known as Mr. AZ Sports, after a recent State Farm Stadium game in which many fans appeared to cheer Detroit Lions fans instead of their own.
The Cardinals have dropped four straight games after a season‑opening win, and the team has yet to respond to the protest. While the billboards may not force a sale, they put the franchise’s ownership on notice that fan dissatisfaction is reaching a new level.
