Armenia: Humanitarian Efforts Continue Amid Ongoing Challenges

These humanitarian efforts aim to alleviate the suffering of affected communities and promote a better understanding of key aspects of the missing persons phenomenon, ultimately contributing to a more stable and secure environment in Armenia.
What happened
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has continued its engagement with Armenian authorities to address the issue of missing persons. ICRC has supported families through 'Right to Know' sessions, focusing on legal and forensic aspects, as well as 'MHPSS' sessions to promote psychosocial well-being. Vulnerable households received assistance through beekeeping, small-scale livelihood grants, and multipurpose cash assistance.
Agricultural cooperatives and communities were provided with equipment to improve productivity and access to machinery. Emergency health services were strengthened in border regions through training, medical equipment, and village health post equipping.
Hybrid solar photovoltaic systems were installed in healthcare facilities to improve electricity supply. ICRC also contributed to the integration of international humanitarian law in the national legal framework and strengthened the Armenian Red Cross Society's capacities.
