Cyprus Presidential Palace Opens Art Tour for Public, Plans More
WHY IT MATTERS
Opening the presidential palace to the public enhances civic engagement, preserves cultural heritage, and provides educational opportunities for future generations.
What happened
On Sunday, the presidential palace announced that a successful first public art tour will be expanded after visitors welcomed the guided viewing of the "Cyprus, the World, the Place, the Word, the Matters" exhibition. The tour, held on Independence Day, showcased works by first‑generation Cypriot artists such as Adamantios Diamantis, Paul Georgiou, Telemachos Kanthos and Michael Kassialos, alongside contemporary pieces and rare antiquities from the 4th millennium BC to the 1st century BC.
First Lady Philippa Karsera said the initiative reflects her aim to open symbolic buildings to citizens, fostering pride in the nation’s heritage. Deputy Minister of Culture Klea Papaellina described the palace as a “living museum of great artists.”
The palace plans additional tours, possibly on International Museum Day, and will soon launch a series for sixth‑grade students.
