Asian Games Organizers Apologize for Logistical Chaos Amid 17,000 Participants

On September 26, the Aichi‑Nagoya 2026 Asian Games Organising Committee (AINAGOC) issued a formal apology for the logistical problems that have plagued the event. The number of athletes and officials rose to about 17,000, roughly 2,000 more than the committee had projected, straining accommodation and transport networks. Athletes complained of cramped rooms, small beds, and travel delays, while the Mongolian women’s basketball team had to cancel a training session after a bus failed to arrive. AINAGOC Secretary‑General Satoshi Murate said the committee is working to identify the causes and improve services, noting that conditions have improved since the early days. The committee pledged that the second half of the Games would see smoother operations.
