Beehiiv Raises Prices, Renames Mid‑Tier Plan Amid User Backlash
WHY IT MATTERS
The price hike signals Beehiiv’s shift toward monetization and platform enhancement, affecting creators’ budgeting and potentially altering the competitive landscape with Substack.
What happened
Beehiiv, the creator platform competing with Substack, announced a price hike that has sparked discontent among its users. CEO and cofounder Tyler Denk said the increase will fund continued investment in the platform’s core experience.
The company is also renaming its mid‑range Scale plan to Lite, with the new tier now costing at least $10 more per month based on subscriber count. For example, creators with up to 10,000 subscribers will pay $139/month instead of the previous $109.
The Pro plan, formerly Max, will now cost $239/month for up to 10,000 subscribers. Users have expressed frustration over the higher fees and the rebranding of the mid‑tier option.
