BMW Opens US Order Books for New 3 Series Sedan, Debuts Premium Electric Variant

BMW has begun taking orders in the United States for its newly unveiled 3 Series sedan, built on the brand’s latest Neue Klasse platform. The lineup now includes a fully electric model for the first time, the 2027 i3 50 xDrive, which features an all‑wheel‑drive system powered by the company’s sixth‑generation electric drivetrain. The i3 50 xDrive delivers 463 hp (345 kW) and 467 lb‑ft (633 Nm) of torque, and is expected to achieve a range of 446 to 468 miles (718–753 km) on a single charge thanks to a cylindrical cell battery pack that uses a cell‑to‑body design to maximize energy density. While gasoline‑powered variants remain available, BMW has yet to confirm a single‑motor, rear‑wheel‑drive version for the U. S. market. In the coming year, the i3 M60 xDrive and the first all‑electric BMW M3—equipped with four motors, one per wheel—are slated for release.
