Hong Kong Pride Parade Cancels Indoor Rainbow Market Due to Venue Unavailability
WHY IT MATTERS
The cancellation highlights logistical challenges for LGBTQ+ events in Hong Kong and underscores the impact of administrative errors on community celebrations.
What happened
The Hong Kong Pride Parade committee announced the cancellation of its planned Rainbow Market, an indoor event scheduled for November 14 at Central Market. The venue, managed by Chinachem Group, was deemed unavailable after an administrative error.
The committee had secured the booking in early June, confirmed the reservation, and paid a deposit. The cancellation follows the venue’s statement that it could no longer host the event.
The Pride organizers have not yet disclosed a replacement location or date for the market.
