What happened
A community event in Ireland turned into a nightmare when a bouncy castle was found to be contaminated with a highly resistant strain of MRSA, infecting 48 children. The outbreak occurred during a gathering with a barbecue, sweets, and multiple bouncy castles, attended by around 120 people, mostly children and teens. Within a day, some children began showing signs of infection, and 33 were treated by their regular doctor, while 15 sought emergency care.
Four children were hospitalized, but all recovered. The investigation results were published in the Eurosurveillance journal.
