What happened
Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva signed a bill establishing the National Policy on Critical and Strategic Minerals, allocating up to BRL 7 billion in investments for research, extraction, and processing of these minerals. The policy aims to attract long-term investment and preserve Brazil's decision-making authority over its production chains.
The government will contribute BRL 2 billion to the Mineral Activity Guarantee Fund, which will support priority projects. The Geological Service of Brazil's budget will increase from BRL 8 million to BRL 300 million to fund soil research.
President Lula emphasized the importance of developing a mining market with industrialization and refining in Brazil.
