UK PM Burnham Calls for Re‑examining Brexit, Suggests Re‑joining EU

Prime Minister Andy Burnham said Britain should consider a range of options for its future relationship with the European Union, including the possibility of re‑joining the bloc. Speaking to the BBC after addressing the Labour Party’s annual conference, Burnham noted that Brexit has caused more harm than good and urged the government to evaluate models such as a customs union, the single market, or maintaining the status quo. He plans to use a November UK‑EU summit to present these options and stresses that decisions should be based on feasibility and the benefits and drawbacks of each approach. Burnham, who took office in July, has repeatedly said he would like Britain to re‑enter the EU during his lifetime.
