Cameroon's Food Security Outlook: Protracted Conflicts and Lean Seasons

Cameroon's food security outlook remains uncertain due to ongoing conflicts and lean seasons. In the Far North Region, Crisis (IPC Phase 3) outcomes are expected to persist through September, affecting very poor households, particularly refugees. Although harvests will improve food availability, lean-season food consumption gaps will likely persist. From October to January 2027, outcomes are projected to improve to Stressed (IPC Phase 2), but some refugee households may remain in Crisis (IPC Phase 3). In the Northwest and Southwest regions, Crisis (IPC Phase 3) outcomes persist, with households facing significant production losses and livelihood disruptions. Outcomes improved to Stressed (IPC Phase 2) in July, but are expected to re-emerge in November due to early depleting food stocks and constrained food purchases.
