American Express Boosts Referral Bonuses to 45,000 Points for Select Cardholders
WHY IT MATTERS
Cardholders can earn a substantial boost to their travel rewards and help friends access welcome bonuses, but the limited‑time nature of the offers means action is required now to capture the extra points.
What happened
American Express is offering unusually high referral bonuses—up to 45,000 Membership Rewards points for Platinum Card holders and 40,000 for Gold Card holders—when a referred friend is approved through a shared link. The bonus applies even if the friend chooses a different Amex card, such as a Delta co‑branded card, as long as the application originates from the referral link.
Cardholders can earn a referral bonus up to five times per calendar year.
The elevated offers are temporary, and the company advises eligible members to check their accounts, generate referral links, and share them promptly before the promotion ends.
