Prague Zoo Cheetah Cubs Thrive After Storms and Mother’s Illness

Five cheetah cubs born on June 18 at Prague Zoo faced a harsh start: strong storms followed their birth and their mother, Daenerys, later suffered an intestinal infection. Despite these challenges, the quartet of males and a female were reported healthy and lively on Friday. Curator Pavel Brandl noted Daenerys’ protective care—licking water from the cubs’ fur to keep them dry—helped them survive the torrential rains. While the cubs look fine now, Brandl cautioned that it could take a year to confirm they will survive the critical early months. Scientists emphasize that each cub is vital for the species’ survival, as cheetahs remain threatened with extinction.
