Cyprus Culture Ministry Launches 'Nostos' Plan for Occupied Communities

The Cyprus Culture Ministry has unveiled a €100,000 support scheme, 'Nostos 2026', aimed at safeguarding heritage in occupied communities in the north. The initiative, presented by Deputy Culture Minister Clea Hadjistefanou-Papaellina, focuses on preserving and documenting tangible cultural heritage through projects such as recording oral testimonies, historical research, and digitising archival material. The scheme will provide funding for actions that can cover up to 100% of their eligible costs, with a maximum amount of €5,000 per proposed action. The plan was drawn up in consultation with the union of occupied communities and is expected to benefit communities, refugee associations, individuals, and non-profit cultural organisations.
