Cyprus Short Film Festival Showcases 13 Local Shorts, Launches New Awards
WHY IT MATTERS
Showcasing local talent and introducing new awards, the festival boosts Cyprus’s cinematic profile, encourages collaboration, and gives audiences a chance to support emerging filmmakers.
What happened
From October 10‑16, the 16th International Short Film Festival of Cyprus will screen 13 Cypriot short films in Limassol’s Rialto Theatre. The National Competition Programme features fiction and documentary titles such as Free Eliza, Night Shift, Sirens, and Icarus, offering filmmakers a platform for audience exposure, international recognition and future co‑production opportunities.
A special screening, The Space In Between, highlights works by women filmmakers exploring displacement and identity. The festival will award the International and National prizes, and seek a nomination for the European Film Academy Short Film category.
New initiatives include an Audience Award with a €500 cash prize and a Peer Award presented by guild and union representatives.
