Cyprus Positions Itself as Emerging Player in European Space Ecosystem

Research Deputy Minister Nicodemos Damianou announced that Cyprus has moved from a user of space services to an emerging player in the European space ecosystem. The island is now an associate member of the European Space Agency and has invested in ground‑based satellite infrastructure, secure connectivity, and a space business incubation centre opened in Limassol last year. Damianou highlighted a joint declaration signed with France that will deepen cooperation in Earth observation, space science, and satellite communications, and will facilitate the exchange of know‑how and joint research initiatives. He noted that the partnership reflects a broader strategic relationship between Cyprus and France, aimed at strengthening regional security, connectivity, and economic development in the eastern Mediterranean.
