Cyprus Launches Public Consultation on 2028‑2034 Research and Innovation Funding
WHY IT MATTERS
The consultation will shape Cyprus’s research priorities and funding, directly influencing the country’s innovation capacity and economic competitiveness over the next decade.
What happened
The Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF) opened a public consultation on Monday to gather input on Cyprus’s proposed research and innovation funding portfolio for 2028‑2034. Stakeholders—including researchers, businesses, organisations and citizens—are invited to submit views through an online tool by November 2, 2026.
The portfolio aims to create a coherent support framework covering the entire research and innovation value chain, from talent development and research excellence to infrastructure, knowledge transfer and commercial exploitation. RIF emphasises that the consultation focuses on the overall structure and intervention logic rather than detailed programme design; individual programmes will be refined in later consultations.
Feedback will inform the final framework, determine financial resources, and shape priorities for Cyprus’s high‑value‑added economy.
