Afghanistan’s Monthly Poverty Line Falls to 2,727 Afghanis in June 2026

Data released by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs shows that Afghanistan’s average monthly poverty line per person dropped to 2,727 Afghanis in June 2026. The figure is split into 1,618 Afghanis for food and 1,109 Afghanis for non‑food items. The decline reflects a month‑on‑month fall in overall prices. The poverty lines are calculated from the 2020 Income, Expenditure and Labour Force Survey, using a reference basket that provides 2,100 kcal per day and area‑specific non‑food costs priced at 2019 levels. The report includes provincial variations and explains the methodology used to estimate missing provincial consumer price indices.
