Flytrex is testing a new rooftop‑dock system in the Dallas‑Fort Worth area that places delivery drones on restaurant roofs before orders arrive. Using machine‑learning models that analyze past demand, location, and time of day, the company predicts which restaurants will be busy and sends a drone to a nearby rooftop dock. When a customer places an order, the drone is already waiting, lowering a hook for the kitchen staff to clip the package onto and then taking off directly to the customer. Flytrex says the approach can reduce its own delivery cost by 60 % and cut customer delivery times by half. The company has completed more than 250,000 U. S. deliveries, partnered with Uber Eats and DoorDash, and received FAA approval for beyond‑visual‑line‑of‑sight operations, giving it a path to expand into the 37 largest U. S. metro markets.
