Disney Plus to Stream Super Bowl LXI
WHY IT MATTERS
This development highlights Disney's growing presence in the streaming market and its efforts to expand its reach through high-profile events.
What happened
Disney has announced that its streaming service, Disney Plus, will broadcast Super Bowl LXI in the US and over 55 international markets. The game will be available to Disney Plus subscribers in the US simultaneously with the broadcast on ESPN and ABC.
The stream will feature coverage from Joe Buck, Troy Aikman, Lisa Salters, and Laura Rutledge. This marks a shift from previous years, where the Super Bowl was streamed on NBC's Peacock.
The move is expected to increase Disney Plus subscribers, following the success of the stream on Peacock last year.
