Disney Sues FCC Over Alleged Censorship of ABC

Disney, ABC, and eight affiliated broadcast stations filed a lawsuit in the U. S. District Court for the District of Columbia against the Federal Communications Commission and FCC Chairman Brendan Carr. The suit seeks to halt a campaign the companies say is a “campaign of censorship” launched by the Trump administration against ABC. Disney alleges the FCC is violating the First Amendment by retaliating against the company’s protected expression, citing repeated attacks on ABC’s journalism and programming. The complaint also requests a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction to stop FCC proceedings that could deny renewals of broadcast licenses held by ABC stations.
