What happened
The New Zealand Attorney‑General has announced that Christopher Morris will join the Auckland District Court as a judge. A former partner at Cook Morris Quinn and a former Crown Counsel, Morris has spent his career in both criminal and civil practice, including high‑profile regulatory trials.
He has appeared before the Court of Appeal, Supreme Court and Privy Council in a variety of roles. The appointment will strengthen the court’s capacity to adjudicate complex cases.
Morris will be sworn in on 22 October 2026 and will be based at the Auckland District Court.
