UN Agencies Conduct Community Risk Analysis in DR Congo’s Karisimbi Health Zone After 17th Ebola Outbreak

In a coordinated effort to strengthen community resilience, a comprehensive risk analysis is underway in the Karisimbi health zone of Goma territory, North Kivu province. The study, launched in July 2026, follows the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s response to the 17th Ebola virus disease outbreak. It brings together a broad coalition of humanitarian partners, including UNFPA, the International Organization for Migration (OIM), the International Medical Corps (IMC), the Department of Public Health (DPS), Heal Africa, Caritas Goma, Africa/Remed, PAMI, the Red Cross, EFIM, DIVAH‑SN, and ALIMA. The analysis focuses on community-level risks and inter-agency coordination, aiming to identify gaps in preparedness, communication, and response capacity. While the detailed findings are contained in an attached report, the initiative underscores the importance of collaborative risk assessment in high‑risk regions. By mapping vulnerabilities and enhancing coordination, the partners seek to reduce the likelihood of future outbreaks and improve the effectiveness of emergency interventions in the region.
