DR Congo Ebola Response Expands with New Telecoms Budget and Surge IT Specialist

During the first fortnight of September, the Logistics and Telecommunications Cluster (LTC) confirmed that its telecoms operations are sustaining the Ebola response in Bunia, Mongbwalu and Kisangani. The cluster coordinated connectivity planning, security communications, power solutions and information management, and is preparing to scale services to additional priority sites. LTC has finalized a 12‑month budget that covers equipment and response‑centre needs for a ten‑hub network. Eight hub locations remain unconfirmed; their validation is essential to tailor site‑specific requirements. To reinforce technical capacity, an IT specialist is slated to deploy to the Democratic Republic of the Congo as surge support, enhancing specialist ICT coverage, workload management and continuity of operational support.
