Humanitarian Needs Remain Severe in DR Congo

The Democratic Republic of the Congo continues to face severe humanitarian needs, driven by ongoing violence, repeated displacement, erosion of livelihoods, and the spread of the Ebola virus. Key areas of concern include certain zones in North Kivu, South Kivu, and Ituri provinces. The humanitarian space has deteriorated, with insecurity, incidents affecting humanitarian actors, and health and border restrictions limiting team mobility, disrupting supply chains, and hindering continuous interventions in several priority zones. Humanitarian coverage remains significantly below the scale of needs in critical areas. Notable gaps in response include zones with high needs, difficult access, and limited operational presence, such as North Kivu's Birambizo, Itebero, Mabalako, Pinga, and Kamango, South Kivu's Minova, and Ituri's Boga, Lolwa, and Mongbalu.
