Philippines Launches AI Center to Boost MSMEs

On August 11, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Converge ICT Solutions Inc. unveiled the DTI Bagong Pilipinas AI and Scale‑Up Center in Manila, a 380‑square‑meter facility designed to help micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), startups and entrepreneurs adopt artificial intelligence and other digital tools. The center offers free access to coworking stations, training rooms, technology showcases and high‑speed connectivity, and allows users to walk in or reserve slots via email. Its three core focus areas are AI literacy, solution testing and development, and networking with mentors, technology providers and industry leaders. Converge’s CEO Dennis Anthony Uy highlighted that AI success hinges on three pillars: infrastructure for AI readiness, reliable connectivity and upskilling. Accordingly, the partnership will provide enterprise‑grade fiber broadband, e‑commerce connectivity, cloud‑based tools, cybersecurity support and productivity platforms tailored to the lean teams typical of small businesses. The initiative is part of a broader digital transformation agreement signed in November 2025, with plans for experiential workshops and learning sessions in provincial areas and traditional industries. The goal is to equip even the smallest Philippine businesses with the digital capabilities needed to compete locally and globally.
