Texas Tests Electric Air Taxis

A new federal program in Texas has begun testing the feasibility of electric and autonomous aircraft. The Federal Aviation Administration's Advanced Air Mobility and Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing Integration Pilot Program has selected eight state-led projects, with the first one kicking off in Texas. Three eVTOL companies, Joby, Beta, and Wisk, will conduct test flights over the next week, demonstrating future routes and technologies. These test flights are taking place before the rules governing this new technology have been finalized. The program aims to assess the safety and efficiency of electric air taxis, paving the way for their potential use in urban transportation.
