Eleven Flights Diverted as Storms Sweep Cyprus

On Saturday, severe storms across Cyprus forced the diversion of eleven scheduled arrivals. Hermes Airports reported that five flights bound for Larnaca were rerouted to Paphos, while two flights destined for Larnaca and Paphos were diverted to Rhodes. The storms prompted temporary parking of aircraft at alternate airports. Hermes Airports director of communications Maria Kouroupi said the weather was moving away and aircraft were returning to Cyprus. By Saturday afternoon, conditions had normalized and flights resumed their intended routes. The incident highlighted the island’s vulnerability to sudden weather events and the importance of flexible routing protocols.
