Emirates Secures Daily Dubai–Berlin Flights After 22-Year Push
WHY IT MATTERS
The approval expands Emirates’ European reach, offering Berlin residents a new direct link to Dubai and boosting competition on the long‑haul route, potentially lowering fares and increasing connectivity for travelers.
What happened
Emirates has secured the right to launch daily flights between Dubai and Berlin after a 22‑year effort. German regulators and the United Arab Emirates agreed to extend the UAE’s traffic rights to a fifth German destination, allowing up to seven weekly flights.
The deal gives Emirates the legal basis to operate a daily long‑haul service from Dubai to Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER). Berlin officials confirmed the agreement will enable the airline to schedule daily flights, although Emirates has not yet set a launch date.
The approval marks the first time the UAE carrier can add Berlin to its network, potentially increasing passenger options and competition on the Europe‑Middle East corridor.
