Hong Kong Universities Secure Five Spots in Global Top 100 Rankings

The Times Higher Education 2027 World University Rankings list five Hong Kong institutions among the world’s top 100. The University of Hong Kong sits at 33rd, the Chinese University of Hong Kong at 42nd, and the University of Science & Technology at 58th. City University and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University improved to 70th and 79th respectively. The Education Bureau highlighted that the results demonstrate the city’s robust higher‑education strengths in teaching, research and international outlook, and attribute the success to sustained government investment and policy support. It noted that the rankings reflect proactive leadership aimed at driving innovation, expanding capacity, and integrating the sector into national development. The bureau also announced that the First Five‑Year Plan will further enhance talent training, frontier research, and industry‑academia collaboration, positioning Hong Kong for a golden period of educational growth.
