Nixon denied supporting defunding the police, instead calling for the elimination of for‑profit prisons and the removal of “flock cameras” that she says enable misconduct. She also clarified that she is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America only because of its support for public housing, healthcare, and reducing big money in politics, rejecting broader socialist goals.
