Samson Sky Secures $80 Million to Advance Switchblade Flying Car Toward U.S. Production

Samson Sky has secured an $80 million investment from Dubai‑based Matin Group, bringing its Switchblade flying car closer to U.S. production. The Switchblade, which drives on roads and transforms into a conventional airplane at an airport, now features fully enclosed wings, tail and propeller during driving mode and a three‑minute transition to flight. The company plans to use the funding to build a 180,000‑square‑foot production facility and to test three production prototypes in late 2026 or early 2027. Production is targeted for summer 2027, with a Builder Assist assembly line ready to assemble kits for early reservation holders. The Switchblade will operate under the FAA’s Experimental Amateur‑Built category, requiring owners to complete more than 50 % of the build; the company claims this can be done in as little as one week. The kit is priced at $200,000 for VFR and $235,000 for IFR, though prices may change. The new investment and updated design bring the Switchblade closer to market, potentially offering a high‑performance, dual‑mode vehicle that could reshape personal transportation and logistics.
