New Zealand Government Invests $37 Million in School Redevelopments
WHY IT MATTERS
This investment aims to provide greater certainty and better facilities for schools, while also addressing the growing demand for immersion education.
What happened
The New Zealand Government has approved $37 million for the redevelopment of four schools, bringing the total investment in school redevelopment projects this year to over $200 million. The projects include a new administration block at Lynfield College, replacement classrooms and a library at Whenuapai School, upgrades to classroom block interiors at Tawa College, and 14 replacement classrooms at Māruawai College.
Work on the projects will begin within the next 12 months.
The Government has also made up to $3 million available to ease property pressures and expand capacity at Kōhanga Reo.
