Cyprus Police Extend Remand for Murder‑for‑Hire Suspects

What happened
Three men arrested on August 28 in Larnaca and Famagusta on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and membership in a criminal organisation were remanded again by the Famagusta District Court for eight days. The arrests followed Europol intelligence about planned murders in Cyprus for a fee, coordinated with Danish authorities.
In a separate operation, five additional suspects were detained in Paphos after police intercepted a vehicle carrying a pistol, two knives, gloves, masks and three mobile phones.
The seized items and ongoing investigations are being handled by a special investigative team in cooperation with European authorities.
