GitHub Copilot Introduces Canvas Feature for Custom Workflow Interfaces

GitHub Copilot’s new canvas feature lets developers build tailored interfaces—such as kanban boards, issue triage boards, release checklists, dashboards, forms, or spreadsheets—directly within the Copilot app. By entering a plain‑English prompt with the /create-canvas skill, users can describe the workflow, the controls they need, and the actions the agent should perform. The agent then generates the interface in the right‑hand panel, saving it as an extension that can be reused or shared with a team. The canvas is bidirectional: users and the agent can update it in real time, eliminating the need for separate sync steps. Community‑shared templates are available through Awesome Copilot, allowing teams to start with a ready‑made board and refine it to fit their process.
