Googlebooks’ ‘Better Together’ Features Fail with Samsung Phones at Launch
WHY IT MATTERS
Samsung users cannot yet use Googlebooks’ key integration features, delaying the full cross‑device experience until an upcoming update.
What happened
Google’s new premium laptop line, Googlebooks, was marketed as a seamless extension of Android phones, promising instant app streaming, file access, notification mirroring, and app continuity. However, the integration requires Android 17 and is currently limited to Pixel devices.
Early adopters discovered that Samsung phones, including the Z Fold 8 which ship with Android 17, do not maintain a stable connection with Googlebooks. Google confirmed that these ‘Better Together’ features are not supported on Samsung phones at launch and announced that an update to add support will be released in the coming weeks.
The limitation means Samsung users must wait before enjoying the promised cross‑device experience.
